BRIEF

Before we approached the final project and designed an observatory, we were tasked with assembling a collage, or a series of collages, that represented our ideas. Observatories have always held something of a mystery for me: the mystery of space and the natural world that lies just beyond the bluish tint of our atmosphere; the mystery of the technology that makes it possible for us to peek into the folds of the universe; the mystery of the people who dedicate their entire lives to understanding the cosmos. While at this point I was not sure exactly what I wanted to build, I knew that I wanted to capture that sense of wonder in my work. That desire became the following triptych.
